The remaining Sundays of the church year following the Easter cycle are historically numbered post-Pentecost or sometimes post-Trinity, Trinity being the first Sunday after Pentecost. In the Roman Catholic rite Corpus Christi (the Thursday after Trinity) has its octave which displaces the second Sunday after Pentecost, and Sundays after Pentecost begin with Domenica III post Pentecosten.

The reforms of Vatican II replaced these with Sundays in Ordinary Time, which includes the Sundays between Epiphany and Lent. Thus in 2010 the Second Sunday in Ordinary Time fell on Jan. 17, one week after Baptism and was followed by OT 3-6 before Ash Wednesday. After Lent, Easter, Pentecost and Corpus Christi (now moved to Sunday and renamed "Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ"), Ordinary Time resumed on June 13 with OT 11.
