Biography

Pianist and composer, Bruno Vlahek, was born in 1986 in Zagreb (Croatia). He graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Music as one of the youngest piano students ever, and subsequently studied at Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne, Hochschule fur Musik in Cologne and Reina Sofia College of Music in Madrid.

He is regularly appearing as a piano recitalist and soloist with orchestras throughout Europe, in China and Israel, at leading international music festivals and venues, and is laureate of several international piano competitions (Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland).

Bruno Vlahek has composed in many genres (orchestral, chamber, solo, choral, pop music) and his works have been performed to great acclaim in European musical centres (Amsterdam, Berlin, Bucharest, Dubrovnik, Lausanne, Lisbon, Moscow, Munich, Prague, Riga, Salzburg, St. Petersburg, Vienna), in the USA, Canada, Venezuela and at the ISCM's World New Music Days 2010 in Sydney, Australia. In December 2012 he won the first prize at the XXXIII International Composition Competition for Organ Works "Cristobal Halffter" in Spain.

For many years (1996-2008) he has also been active as a church organist and collaborated with various vocal soloists and choral ensembles.
