Moder and maydyn Was never non but che; Wel may swych a lady Godès moder be.

German translation Ich sing’ von einer Maid, die ist makellos. Den König aller Könige wählt’ sie sich zum Sohn. Er kam in aller Stille zu seiner Mutter, wie Tau im April, der auf das Gras fällt. Er kam in aller Stille zu seiner Mutter Heim, wie Tau im April, der auf den Boden fällt. Er kam in aller Stille zu seiner Mutter Lager, wie Tau im April, der auf die Blumen fällt. Keine als sie war je Mutter und Maid; solch eine Dame mag wohl Gottes Mutter sein.
