The piece may be performed in a myriad of ways: firstly, as an 8–part choral work with basso continuo for accompaniment; as an 8–part choral work with 8 accompanying instruments and basso continuo; or as a 16–part choral work with basso continuo, SATB–SATB semi-chorus or soloists, with or without obbligato instruments! (Or a combination of instruments and between 8 and 16 voices.)
