Welcome back

Hi Daniel, welcome back to CPDL, and thanks for the new Gesualdo's edition! —Carlos Email.gif 01:01, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Gesualdo

HELP! I have sent a new Gesualdo score. I tried to add it to book 5 using similar code to how you added Occhi del mio cor vita, however this did mot work! The uploaded file is Gesu-5ODol.zip and this contains the three files needed. How do I do it? Many thanks, Dan

Ok Dan, I've just read your message at the forum, please let me help you with this. Regards, —Carlos Email.gif 20:28, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi Daniel, after your initial confusion you seem to have fixed all things very cleverly! A little more experience and you'll be editing in CPDL without any need for our help. Thanks again for the new edition. —Carlos Email.gif 20:45, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Today (2009-06-28) I added a Gesualdo Madrigal, Deh, coprite il bel seno, Book 5. I deleted the file information that was there on the 'composer page', and entered "2 editions available" instead. Unfortunately I then found that the original entry did not have a supporting 'Works Entry' page so now there was no reference available to the first version of this work. I had to look at the history of the 'composer page' to determine what the files were for the initial version. I could not locate the name of the editor, date of issue, or the CPDL # for the original version so I left these as '?'. I added the constructed original version to the "works Entry' page, along with my new version, so now the files are accessible again! Sorry about this - I had not thought it was possible to have a work, but no 'works entry' page, but it appears that it is!DSH 23:32, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Daniel, don't worry, you haven't done anything that couldn't be recovered! As I explained in the forums, what happened was that, when you added a comma after "Deh" to the link at the Gesualdo page, the link to the original works page was lost and you ended up creating a new, duplicate page. They've been merged already, so everything should be all right now. —Carlos Email.gif 23:57, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Many thanks Carlos! What would I do without you getting me out of my troubles! DSH 00:08, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Ein Kindelein so löbelich

Michael Praetorius,

Today 2009-08-09 I added Ein Kindelein so löbelich to CPDL. In error, I initially sent the wrong .zip file. The file PraeM-Kindelein.zip is not required on CPDL. It is actually the files (for recorder) submitted to WIMA and already on that site.

Sorry! One day I will get this right! (May be!) DSH 18:46, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

The file PraeM-Kindelein.zip was deleted as you requested. Regards, —Carlos Email.gif 00:43, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

I have done it again. This time 2 files are not required on CPDL - Prae-Dulci.pdf and Prae-Dulci.mid. Maybe I should keep my WIMA and CPDL files in different directories! Thank you again for all your help. DSH 21:24, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

These also were deleted. :) —Carlos Email.gif 03:25, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

A thank you and a request

Hi Daniel. Thanks for your recent contributions! It's a great help that you post the code onto the wiki yourself. Just one thing - when you're posting the code, please don't remove any of the lines under the "general information" title. Just because they're empty at the moment doesn't mean that someone might add something in the future. In particular, the "instruments" line is crucial, even if the work doesn't have any accompaniment, since those works are categorised under a cappella. In this case, the line should read
'''Instruments:''' {{acap}}<br>
I've fixed the pages you've recently created. Thanks! --Bobnotts talk 09:24, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Jacques Arcadelt - Donna, quando pietosa

I tried to upload this, however, it seemed to try to go to a different composer - Reginald Jacques. I don't know how it decided to do that! This madrigal is from the second book of madrigals of Jacques Arcadelt. I did not link it to the "Second book of madrigals".

I've linked the publication, from the 'Published' field of the work page. Claude (talk) 20:47, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Thank you. I have updated the .pdf to reflect it is No. 24 and not No. 23 as I had it originally. Dan

I originally prepared this work for IMSLP as it was an arrangement for recorders. I made a choral score for CPDL. However the choral score had some wrong clefs, and, in changing the clefs I managed to get one of the resulting octaves incorrect. The .pdf file is corrected and so is the MIDI file. However, I seem to be unable to provide new .sib or .mxl files. I cannot find any instructions of how to do either of these tasks. Thank you for your help. Dan
Which is your music notation software to produce the PDF? You can upload your source file clicking on 'Upload a file', under 'Tools', in the left pane. If it his from Finale, Sibelius, Capella or MuseScore, I can open it and export it as MXL file, then link both files from the work page. Claude (talk) 20:10, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
Thank you. I have uploaded the new Sibelius file. I produced the .pdf file from Sibelius (7.5). I can send a .mxl file if this would help you. DSH (talk) 15:51, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
Thank you. You uploaded a Sibelius file that hasn't the same name as the previous one. So I had to change the link accordingly and delete the previous file. Please upload now the corresponding MXL file (compressed) with the same name as the previous MXL. You will be asked to confirm: "Do you really want to recover the old version?" Yes you are. ;-) Claude (talk) 17:54, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

I tried to upload a file with the same name as the one there previously, i.e. Arca-DonnaQuando.mxl, but it came back with the message - A file with this name already exists, and cannot be overwritten - I uploaded Arca-DonnaQuando-ch.mxl instead. (I was not asked anything about recovering the old version!) Thank you for continuing to work on this project.DSH (talk) 19:56, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

Adding .mxl file to a work

2019-12-07 I added Corteccia, Ingredere, CPDL No:56204 I added the files as allowed, but I must have done something wrongly! I got to the Music Notation entry and added the Sibelius file. I was then going to add the .mxl file, but there did not seem to be any way to do that. I tried "Add new edition" but this is not a "new" edition, it is a different format of that submitted initially. Sorry! Dan PS Thank you for all your great work! User:Daniel Harmer (talk) 01:14, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Daniel. Thank you for your contributions to CPDL. Yes there is only one line for a source file in an edition. But you can either upload the MXL one later and manually create its corresponding link OR consider the possibility to just upload the MXL file in lieu of the Sibelius one when filling the AddWork form.
