The original key of the piece is as is the edition by Antonio Melis. Soprano starts on A. So James Gibb's edition is transposed down a note from original key. I checked Lassus's original (Patrocinium musices prima pars 1573) and it confirms this. James Gibb's edition has transposed up a minor third the edition it took as a basis, i.e. Brian Marble's edition. But that edition is not in the original key, it is clearly stated that it is transposed down a P4 (which I take it means a pure fourth.)
