Talk:Gaudeamus igitur, Op. 80 (Johannes Brahms)
From ChoralWiki
No genuine Brahms
The page lists two entirely different settings which can’t be set by Brahms. His ‘Academic Festival Ouverture’ (composed for full orchestra) does not contain a choral part—Brahms only cites the Gaudeamus theme. The arrangements listed here can’t even be derived from the orchestral score. I suggest to move the contributions on this page to Gaudeamus igitur (Anonymous) as Brahms’ authorship is in reasonable doubt, and remove the entries from Johannes Brahms and Johannes Brahms – list of choral works respectively. —Robert Urmann 11:27, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
