Pastores loquebantur ad invicem:
"Transeamus usque Bethleem et videamus hoc verbum,
quod factum est, quod Dominus ostendit nobis".
Et venerunt festinantes et invenerunt Mariam et Joseph
et infantem positum in praesepio.
Videntes autem notum fecerunt verbum,
quod dictum erat illis de puero hoc.
Et omnes, qui audierunt, mirati sunt de his,
quae dicta erant a pastoribus ad ipsos.
Maria autem conservabat omnia verba
haec conferens in corde suo.
English translation
The shepherds said to one another:
"Let us go even unto Bethlehem and see this thing
that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us."
And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph
and the babe lying in a manger.
And when they saw it, they made known the saying
Which had been told to them concerning this child.
And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.
But Mary kept all these words,
pondering them in her heart.
