Derven doet mij de doot.
Venus wilt my bederven
Met haren strale groot.
Noit schicht so snel en schoot
Dan myn liefs mondeken root.
Mach ick gheen troest verwerven,
Sterven moet ick die doot.
English translation
In sorrow I must die,
Losing everything through Death.
Venus is trying to destroy me
With her long arrow.
Never before a dart was shot so swiftly
Than by my darling’s rosy lips.
If I don’t gain comfort
