Description: Words by Isaac Watts, poem entitled Self-Consecration, in five stanzas. Babcock used the fourth stanza of Watts' poem in his composition, varying the words slightly:

  • Line 2, "instrument of song" (Watts) — "instrument of praise" (Babcock)
  • Line 3, "the notes" (Watts) – "the song" (Babcock)
