- Herr Christ, der ein'ge Gottessohn, Vater in Ewigkeit,
- aus seinem Herz'n entsprossen, gleich wie geschrieben steht.
- Es ist der Morgensterne, sein' Glanz streckt er so ferne,
- für andern Sternen klar.
English translation
- The only Son from Heaven, foretold by ancient seers,
- By God the Father given, in human form appears.
- No sphere his light confining, no star so brightly shining,
- As he, our Morning Star.
Dutch translation
- Christus, met eer gekroonde, Zoon Gods in eeuwigheid,
- die bij en in God woonde en uit ging in de tijd.
- Gij zijt de morgensterre, die opging van zeer verre,
- uw licht straalt wijd en zijd.
