Beatus Benedictus abbas,
qui confisus est in domino,
predicavit preceptum domini,
et constitutus est in monte sancto eius.

Similabo eum viro sapienti,
qui edificavit domum suam supra firmam petram.

German translation

Der selige Abt Benedikt,
der fest auf den Herrn vertraute,
predigte die Lehre des Herrn
und ließ sich nieder auf seinem heiligen Berg.

Ich vergleiche ihn einem weisen Mann,
der sein Haus baute auf festen Fels.

English translation

The blessed abbot Benedict,
who trusted firmly in the Lord,
preached the lesson of the Lord,
and established himself on his holy mount.

I compare him to a wise man,
who built his house on a firm rock.
