==Background==
'''Ambrosian chant''' (also known as '''Milanese chant''') is the liturgical plainchant repertory of the Ambrosian rite of the Roman Catholic Church, related to but distinct from Gregorian chant. It is primarily associated with the Archdiocese of Milan, and named after St. Ambrose much as Gregorian chant is named after Gregory the Great. It is the only surviving plainchant tradition besides the Gregorian to maintain the official sanction of the Roman Catholic Church.
'''Biography'''

Aljaž was born in a small Upper Carniolan village north-east from Ljubljana, in what was then the Austrian Empire. He was a priest and also a successful composer, singer and choir master. His works are still very popular among Slovenes. He became famous by having mountain huts built throughout the Julian Alps, which enabled the development of alpinism in the Slovene Lands. His by far the most famous construction is the Aljaž Tower (Slovene: ++Aljažev stolp), built on the summit of Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in the Julian Alps and in Slovenia and a Slovenian national symbol. He also arranged several hiking paths to be laid out, enabling more visitors to come to the mountains.

Together with Henrik Tuma, Jakob Aljaž is regarded the founding father of Slovenian mountaineering. His endeavours also had a very important role in the emergence of Mount Triglav as one of the central national symbols of the Slovene people. The first verse from Jakob Aljaž's famous patriotic song Oj, Triglav, moj dom ("Oh, Triglav, My Home") is engraved in the Slovenian 50 cent euro coin.

He died in the village of Dovje.
'''Biography:''' Rey de Castilla y León a quien se dio dignidad imperial y el título de "Rey de Romanos" (1257). Más que político y militar, fue erudito, poeta y músico. Restableció la Universidad de Salamanca, recopiló el célebre Código de las Siete Partidas y escribió numerosas poesías y otras obras. Es conocido en la historia de la música por su colección de 423 Cantigas dedicadas a la Virgen, escritas en lengua gallega. Algunos autores atribuyen buen número de estas cantigas a varios de los poetas y músicos protegidos por el monarca; otros críticos asignan un origen árabe a la parte musical de las mismas.
==Life==
'''Born:''' 23 January 1848

'''Died:''' 14 December 1922

'''Biography:''' Helgi Helgason, Icelandic composer, born in Reykjavik January 23, 1848.

He studied music in Copenhagen, violin and brass instrument studies. When returning to Iceland he founded "Lúðraþeytarafélag Reykjavíkur" (Horn Blowers Association of Reykjavik) and conducted them for many years. He went back to Denmark for advanced music theory and composition studies in 1880. After finishing his studies there he composed many songs for choir and also for the Reykjavik Band. In 1892 his Íslenzk sönglög (Icelandic Songs) was published which is a collection of 29 songs for mixed choir. He moved to his brother, the composer Sigurdur Helgason, in USA in 1902 and lived there for some years. But he did not like it much over there and moved back to Iceland some years before his death in December 1922.

'''Biography'''
